Bob Rishel, Assistant Aquatics Director

The most important part of working in aquatics is to teach everyone to be safe in and around water. Every swimmer is unique in their understanding and pace of learning and teaching in a calm manner helps students feel comfortable quickly.

Bob has been at the Boys and Girls Club since 1992 and Assistant Aquatics Director since 2000. He’s had a long career teaching swimming to all ages and abilities from babies exploring the water to competitive swim teams and adults. Additionally, he’s taught a variety of classes such as Lifeguarding, Aqua Aerobics and Arthritis Warm Water Therapy.

Bob is proud to assist others in using their learning as an example of staying healthy in body and spirit as well as personal growth through achievement. He is particularly pleased when former students return to our programs with children of their own. Additionally, many of his students have gone on to work as lifeguards at the Club and elsewhere, keeping swimmers safe and passing along the knowledge they learned from Bob.

To Bob, the Club provides a sense of family. He met his wife here, his two sons Tim and Kevin, learned to swim here and both worked as Lifeguards and Swim Instructors over the years.
