Nethmi DeSilva is an alumnus who began coming to the Boys & Girls Club at 3 years old. At the Club, she learned how to speak English, met lifelong friends, and explored her interests and passions through various programming. Some of her most treasured memories are sewing with Mrs. Cutri, making and editing videos at the digital arts lab, and participating in Liberty Keystone. Nethmi was a consistent member well into her high school years where she also began working as a junior staff.
After graduating high school, Nethmi attended Binghamton University where she obtained a Bachelors of Science in Anthropology. Despite attending college away from home, Nethmi returned to the Club every summer to facilitate the Healthy Lifestyles Program for Club members at Adventure Camp. Post-undergrad, Nethmi is now the Director of the Healthy Lifestyles Program. She takes great pride in overseeing the same health promotion program that had such a profound impact on her during her years as a member. Nethmi has plans to continue her education in health promotion and prevention and will start a Public Health graduate program in the Fall of 2024.
